 Hi!
My name is Karen Standard. I have 4 wonderful children, Nathan &
Natalie who are 12 and entering 7th grade, Anna who is 9 and entering
4th grade, and Joey who is 6 and entering 1st grade. I have been
married to my husband Tim for 19 years. We met at Georgia Southern
University where I studied Early Childhood education. Anna and Joey
both attended SMPK and I loved every moment they were at SMPK. I
began volunteering and substituting two years ago and became a five
day, 3-year-old teacher last year which I thoroughly enjoyed. Before
my children were born, I was a manager of the shoe department at
Target, worked in advertising and layout for a hunting and fishing
magazine, and was a medical transcriptionist. Since working at SMPK
I have realized that teaching is my true passion. I look forward
to another exciting year teaching 3-year-olds.
In my “spare” time, which is very spare, I enjoy sewing
and quilting, spending time with my family, and volunteering at
my children’s school. During the summer, I manage our community
swim team on which all four of my children swim.
