About
Stockbridge Methodist Preschool and Kindergarten:
Our Mission:
We are a ministry of Stockbridge First United Methodist Church. Our Goal
at SMPK is to help children with God's guidance, to develop a love for
learning, enhance their self-esteem and to provide a loving and warm environment
that will enable them to acquire a solid educational foundation on which
they can build.
Our Statement
of Faith:
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that salvation is freely
offered to all and comes only through Jesus Christ. We believe there is
only one God who exists infinitely loving, just, and holy.
Non-Discrimination
SMPK does not discriminate on the basis of color, race, and religion,
national or ethnic origin for students. We encourage an environment where
everyone feels loved and accepted.

to enhance the role of the church in service to the community, and
to encourage families to know that church life should be a vital
part of their lives. The children’s ministry here at our church
is very active, with lots of activities for children. We also offer
many wonderful Sunday School classes for adults. Even if you do

What
to expect at SMPK in the 10-11 School Year
Our Daily Routine begins at 9:00 am
each school day. Our morning car line, starting at 8:50, eases your
morning. The first week of school parents will walk their child
to class. We start the car line the second week of school. At 12:00
(12:30 for kindergarten) you will walk in to meet your child at
their classroom. We believe it is important for you to have face
to face time with their teacher each day.
We have a daily routine in each class
that begins with the pledge of allegiance and a morning prayer.
Each class day is structured to include circle time with calendar
and songs, craft time, snack, special classes, recess, and play
time in centers. It is important for your child to arrive to class
on time and come consistently.
Our
special classes include:
5 Day classes attend Bible,
Music and Movement, Library, Discovery class and our 3's through
Kindergarten will attend Spanish
3 Day classes attend
Bible, Music and Movement, and Discovery class
All classes will
attend Chapel Bi-Monthly |
Twice a year we will have a Musical
Performance where your child has an opportunity to perform a short
program with their classmates. We believe it strengthens every child’s
confidence to be a part of the shows. You will be amazed what a
great performance our kids have! |
Our
Curriculum
The registration
fee includes Curriculum, Art supplies, Miscellaneous supplies
such as tissues, wet wipes and soap, a school T-shirt, daily snack
and juice, and special events. Registration fees must be paid
to hold your spot.
Our Curriculum is a unique and challenging
curriculum based on thematic units. Each
month a new theme is introduced that will integrate Math, Science,
Social Studies and Language skills into one unit.
Some of our themes may include: Our Mighty Ocean, Community Helpers,
Christmas and the Birth of Jesus, and Amazing Animals. The children
will learn new concepts and academics through a variety of hands-on
experiences. We encourage activities such as science experiments,
graphing, cooking projects, painting, drawing, learning games, creative
writing, and use of manipulatives. When
blended with Bible stories, it creates a well-rounded program for
your child. These
experiences combined with Art, Music and Creative Movement, will
give your child an environment that will encourage creativity as
well as a love for school.
Our Kindergarten uses a combination
of thematic units and the Saxon Phonics and Math curriculum. Our
Kindergarten program encourages hands on activities as well as strengthening
their reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
We have special events each month according
to our theme. For example, during community helpers month we will
bring in special visitors from the community such as a police officer,
doctor, and dentist. Parents are invited to join us for some of
our special events such as our Thanksgiving Feast, Pancakes with
Parents, and our Christmas Party. The children love our dress up
days including Hat Day, 50’s Day, Community Helpers Dress
up day, and many more! At the end of the year we will have an art
show displaying special pieces of your child’s art from their
school year. Each year we have new and exciting things for you and
your child!
